HIPAA Security Training
As a covered entity, ECU workforce members must be trained on HIPAA security issues and reminded of their security responsibility to protect electronic protected health information. This training is separate and different from the Privacy training. It will help to assist in protecting the confidentiality, security and integrity of ePHI. Information Technology alone is NOT the answer to securing confidential information, include ePHI; it must be combined with awareness and changes in human behavior.
Annual HIPAA security training is administered to all personnel who directly and indirectly provide support to a designated HIPAA system. To access this training, log in to the Cornerstone employee training system using your PirateID.
New Employee Training
The Office of Institutional Integrity provides training on Healthcare Compliance, HIPAA Privacy, and HIPAA Security regulations at new employee orientation for both the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) and the School of Dental Medicine (SoDM). If you have or are a new employee or are a transfer employee to the Health Sciences Campus, please contact Paige Tyson (BSOM) at tysonp15@ECU.EDU or Demetric Clark (SoDM) at firstname.lastname@example.org to register for New Employee Orientation.
